Westpac New Zealand is the second largest bank in the country, a subsidiary of the Western-Pacific, one of the Australia’s big four banks.



Bank of New South Wales was originally founded in 1861 when it opened seven branches across the country of New Zealand. Even today, some of the original buildings still stand where they were built. Locations include Tokomaru Bay and another one on the South Island in Oamaru.

Westpac was the largest bank in New Zealand until the merger of ANZ and the National Bank of New Zealand in 2012. What makes the bank so big? 1.5 million customers, 3,000 shareholders and a huge 197 branches around the country.

The bank is currently committed to supporting the growth of environmentally sustainable operations, specifically in regards to electric motor vehicles. Over the next three years, they aim to increase the number of electric vehicles on New Zealand’s road by 75%.
