The Kelburn campus is the heart of the first-year experience at Victoria University of Wellington. Kelburn provides the full range of student support and administration offices, the Central Library and the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Engineering, Education and Health.

Finding your way around

Download the Kelburn campus map PDF1.5MB to find your way around. Buildings have their names abbreviated to two letters, and lecture theatres are signalled by ‘LT’. The first number signals what level they are on.

Services and amenities

Student services available at the Kelburn campus include Mauri Ora—Student Health and Wellbeing, the Recreation Centre, VicBooks and Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association (VUWSA). There is also a selection of cafes and food outlets, and a pharmacy.



The Kelburn campus is a ten to fifteen minute walk up the hill from the city centre. The campus is on regular bus routes and can also be accessed by cable car. Limited parking is available for students and staff.

Campus developments

The University has expanded with a new science building on Kelburn campus (Te Toki a Rata) which was completed at the end of 2017, the redevelopment of the ground floor at Te Aro campus and the redevelopment of Rutherford House on the Pipitea campus (completed at the beginning of 2017).
