The University of Waikato offers several scholarships and bursaries for international students. Some require an application while others are applied automatically. This page lists the scholarships and bursaries that are available to international students – as well as regulations, conditions and application procedures.

University of Waikato International Excellence Scholarship
Closing date: Applications for 2020 can be submitted at any time
This Scholarship is intended to support talented international students who are enrolling for the first time into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato. The Scholarships have a value of up to NZD$10,000, and will be awarded to successful applicants who demonstrate excellent academic achievement.
University of Waikato International Excellence – NZ School Leavers Scholarship
Closing date: 31 Aug 2020
For international students completing Year 13 at a NZ high school in 2020 and intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate degree at UoW in A Trimester 2021. Students must have completed studying at NCEA Level 2 and achieved at least a Merit endorsement. University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship

It is only possible to apply for a UoW Doctoral Scholarship as part of the application to enrol process. That is why the ‘Apply Now’ button on the Scholarships page takes you to the University’s application to enrol page. When applying to enrol in a PhD, DMA, EdD, or SJD, prospective students will be able to indicate that they wish to also be considered for a UoW Doctoral Scholarship.
University of Waikato Research Masters Scholarship
Closing date: 31 Oct 2020
For students intending to enrol full-time in a 500-level thesis of 90-points or more as part of their first master’s degree at the University of Waikato. International students must have completed at least 120-points of study at a New Zealand university in order to be eligible for this Scholarship.
