Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) is a foundation year for the University of Otago’s health professional programmes, and also an excellent way to begin your degree in biological or biomedical sciences.

Please note: Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) is not the same as Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHealSc).

Professional programmes

HSFY counts as the first year of study for Health Sciences professional programmes:

• Medical Laboratory Science
• Medicine
• Pharmacy
• Physiotherapy

Restricted-entry programmes

HSFY is useful preparation, but not required, for Health Sciences restricted-entry programmes:

• Dental Technology
• Oral Health
• Radiation Therapy

Bachelor of Health Sciences
