Libraries and Learning Services enables our students and staff to flourish by providing excellent opportunities, environments, services, resources, tools and expertise for learning, teaching and research.
The General Library is the largest library in the University Library system, and houses a number of notable collections. The New Zealand and Pacific and Mātauranga Māori research collections are located adjacent to the Library’s Special Collections on Level G, providing convenient access to quality resources with a strong New Zealand and Pacific focus. There is a similar regional emphasis in the Map and Aerial Photograph Collection on Level M.
The Audiovisual Collection is available from the helpdesk and specialist viewing equipment is on Level G. The Asian Languages Collection on Level 3 focuses on the literature, history, language, philosophy and religions of China, Japan and Korea, in the languages of these countries.
The Paterson Collection is a closed collection of books on classics and Biblical studies. Material can be requested at Special Collections. Read more about General Library collections in Collections.
Staff and students can borrow and return books using the self-issue machine and the automated services – Client Services staff are available at the helpdesk on Level G. You can also collect and return your Interlibrary Loan items at the helpdesk.
Access to the University’s wireless network is available on all levels of the General Library.
