South African Bank Of Athens Head Office
The South African Bank of Athens, previously situated in Marshall Street, Johannesburg made a strategic decision to move the bank and all of its staff to Sandton in order to bring the bank’s offices in line with their new position in the market and offer a better experience to their customers coming into the bank’s head offices.
Workspace were appointed the Interior Designers and Project Managers on the project and worked closely with both the South African office and the overseas head office, National Bank of Greece for a period of 12 months planning and designing the new offices. The office space was an area of 2700m2 and at the time of project commencement was an empty shell with only the first fix of air conditioning installed.
The project was slightly different to the average turnkey installation which we generally see in South Africa, as the National Bank of Greece requested that the construction was to be sent out to tender to construction companies and not be completed by the designers. Workspace prepared the full RFQ document pack, along with a detailed bill of quantities, contractual obligations and construction / detailed drawings. The entire tender process was managed by Workspace and final appointment of the successful construction contractor awarded directly by the client.
Workspace project managed the 3 month installation, held weekly contractor site meetings and client site meetings. All meetings were minuted and minutes along with progress reports sent to the SA client and Greece Head Office.
A new desking system was designed for the bank and progress in the factory with regards to manufacturing and installation times were managed by Workspace along with the final installation of all furniture, including custom built items and soft furnishings.
