This information describes how to save files to OneDrive and your H: Drive.
OneDrive
OneDrive is a cloud-based storage system which is part of the free Office 365 Suite available to all current students. You get 1TB of storage.
OneDrive lets you store, sync, share, and collaborate on files from any device and any location. It’s highly recommended that you save your work to OneDrive, especially if your documents are under 1GB in size.
You should be aware that uploading and/or downloading files to OneDrive will impact on your monthly AUT data allowance (when you use AUT’s wifi).
Conditions apply to the use of OneDrive.

H: Drive
When your network login is created, you’re automatically allocated space on the AUT network. This space is known as your ‘home directory’ or your ‘H: Drive’.
If you’re working on large files yourself or collaborating on them with others, save these to your H: Drive (as saving them on your OneDrive will impact on your data allowance).
When you save to ‘My Documents’ from an AUT computer, you are saving to ‘H:\data\’. The default capacity for your home directory is 300MB.
How to access your files off-campus
- To view and access the ‘My Files’ tab use the AUT network access portal
- To login to the MyFiles network portal, type username: AUTUNI\username, eg AUTUNI\abcd123 and your network password.
- Click on ‘My Files’ to access your files on H: Drive and K: Drive.
