The Academic Skills Team provides support to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Business School. This support is both online and face-to-face. Face-to-face activities include:
- Daily one-to-one support at the booth on Level 1
- Weekly academic skills workshops, learning links and learning hub conferences that support the first year undergraduate core papers.

Online support
The Learning Hub offers you access to a wide range of resources to support your learning. The online resource provides academic skills modules on study skills, deconstructing your assignment tasks, numeracy, academic reading and writing skills that target the needs of first year Business students.

Workshops
The Academic Skills Team offers weekly workshops linked to the first year core papers. The workshops focus on academic skills such as essay writing, reading effectively, deconstructing assignment questions, exam and test preparation and more. Log on to the Learning Hub to find out what is on each week and sign up.
One-to-one support
One-to-one support is offered Monday to Friday between 12 and 2pm in the Learning Hub booth situated in the Student centre in OGGB level 1. You may drop in during these hours with any queries related to academic skills. For example you can ask questions about study skills, time management or feedback on your essay writing. Specialist staff and Learning leaders will give you personalised support. No appointment is necessary.
Learning Leaders
Learning Leaders are volunteer Business School student mentors who provide guidance and support to first year students by sharing successful learning and study strategies. They participate in a number of activities such as the Learning Hub skills conference, orientation, academic skills workshops, face-to-face support and boot camps.
