Mercantile Bank Young Bankers Appreciation Award
Mercantile Bank Limited honoured five eminent persons with the Mercantile Bank Sommanona- 2018 Award at a programme held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Saturday.
Tofail Ahmed M.P., Minister for Commerce the chief guest handed over the gold medals, crests, & cheques of Tk.3.00 lakh to each the awardees. Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, MP was present on the occasion as special guest.
Bank’s Chairman A.K.M. Shaheed Reza presided over the programme while Managing Director & CEO Kazi Masihur Rahman delivered welcome speech.
Tofail Ahmed M.P. said that along with banking business, Mercantile Bank’s recognition of the country’s eminent personalities is truly a praiseworthy effort.
The awardees of the Mercantile Bank Sommanona- 2018 include Nirmalendu Goon for Education & Culture, Jahanara Imam (posthumous), Freedom Fighter & Liberation War based Research, Dr. Atiur Rahman for Economics & Economics Based Research, Mostafa Kamal (Meghna Group) for Commerce and Industry, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for Sports.
Jahanara Imam’s posthumous award was collected by family friend Shahidullah Khan Badal and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s award was collected by his representative Ahmed Nafiz Momen as he is abroad with the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
At the same occasion, the newly-introduced MBL Young Bankers’ Appreciation Award-2018 was awarded to five young bankers selected through a 5-step competitive process.
Tofail Ahmed handed over the certificates, crest & cheques of Tk.2.00 lakh each to the awardees.
In the special guest’s speech, Asasuzzaman Noor M.P. said that MBL Young Bankers’ Appreciation Award-2018 is an exemplary initiative that will promote acknowledgment of young talents in other sectors as well.
Awardees of the MBL Young Bankers’ Appreciation Award-2018 include Fayez Uddin Ahmed, Senior Principal Officer, First Security Islami Bank Limited, Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, First Assistant Vice President, Trust Bank Limited, Md, Rajon Mia, First Assistant Vice President, Mercantile Bank Limited, Md. Riazul Haque, Senior Executive Officer, Bank Asia Limited and Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Principal Officer, AB Bank Limited.
In the conference, Bank’s Vice Chairmen Md. Abdul Hannan and A. S. M. Feroz Alam; Chairman of the Executive Committee Md. Anwarul Haque, Audit Committee Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam, Chairman of the Risk Management Committee M. Amanullah, Directors: Shahidul Ahsan, Al-Haj Akram Hossain (Humayun), Mohd. Selim, Morshed Alam M.P., Md. Shahabuddin Alam, Al-Haj Mosharref Hossain & Dr. Md.
