Other advantages include travel insurance and hotel offers which are a plus if you travel often. But does this card really perform as a travel credit card? I’ve decided to dig through the details to find out how Maybank World MasterCard compares to similar cards from other issuers.

Our Least Favourite Things About Maybank World MasterCard
Minimum annual income requirement. To be eligible to apply for this card you must have a minimum annual income of $80,000.
- Our Verdict
If you’re able to meet the $80,000 per annum minimum annual income then the Maybank World MasterCard could serve you well as a travel/exclusive privileges card. As one of Maybank’s flagship cards it offers some pretty nice travel perks (insurance, special privileges) and international benefits. If you shop at TREATS partners or fill up at petrol stations in Singapore you can chalk up points pretty quickly, as you earn 10X TREATS points per $1 spent, which comes to 4 miles per dollar. Unlike most other Maybank credit cards, which charge a $25 conversion fee when you convert points to frequent flyer miles, this card doesn’t charge a conversion fee so you really get a lot more value for your points. Surprisingly, the $240 annual fee waived for the first year isn’t that high for a card with these benefits, although there are cheaper miles cards out there. Maybank World MasterCard also lets you redeem points for a lot of rewards in Malaysia, and provides a number of other privileges in Malaysia, so if you travel there regularly then this card will probably have a special appeal for you.
