Massey University Football Club unites the community with the university in a bid to provide a club that encourages all to enjoy the beautiful game.
We aim to develop football in Palmerston North through leadership, enjoyment and creating pathways for all players to succeed. We bleed blue and promote a sense of family with a professional attitude, sportsmanship and fair play.
Club History
Proudly Established 1970
We have a long proud history of providing quality football within the Massey University community and the wider Manawatu region. We have traditionally been the club for students but we are a club that welcomes all. Many of our members are ex-students who have since settled in the region and have continued with us. We are known for our social events we hold throughout the year and look forward to adding more events for all ages to our social calendar.
MUFC Board and Committee
Following the 2019 MUFC AGM, a new look committee will govern for the 2020 season with the intensions of growing the club and its presence within Manawatu and Central Football. All enquiries can be sent to [email protected]
Sponsorship
We are a club that prides itself on getting involved in our community. If you are likeminded and would like to support us and be a part of our success by becoming a sponsor we would love to hear from you. Many options exist from sponsoring a team, a man/woman of the match, uniforms or game day sausage sizzle. For further details please contact Nicolette Adamson or Donald Piper.

Men’s First Team
LOTTO CENTRAL FEDERATION LEAGUE
The Massey men’s first team play in the Central Federation League consisting of teams from Palmerston North, Hawke’s Bay, Whanganui, Taranaki and Gisborne. They also compete in the Federation Cup of which they are the 2019 Champions! It was a mixed bag for the boys in the 2019 season, finishing 7th on the table and will look to definitely improve on this and finish in the top 3 in the 2020 season.
Men’s Reserves
HORIZON’S PREMIERSHIP LEAGUE
The men’s reserve team plays in the Manawatu Horizon’s Premiership league consisting of teams from Palmerston North, Feilding, Whanganui and Levin. The boys had a fantastic 2019 season finishing 2nd, just one point behind the league winners. They will look to build on this and go one better in the 2020 season.
Men’s Championship
360 LOGISTICS CHAMPIONSHIP
The men’s championship team play in the Championship league with teams from Palmerston North, Levin and Feilding. The boys didn’t do as well as they would have liked, finishing 5th on the table with probably one too many losses and draws to their names as they would have liked in 2019. As true Massey battlers they will regather in the 2020 season and go again.
Men’s Div 2 – The Rigs
MANAWATU DIVISION 2
The Rigs play in the Manawatu Division 2 competition with teams from Palmerston North, Levin, and Feilding. The Rigs, as they’re affectionately known and self-named, had an up and down season but was made much more entertaining via their post game analysis and commentary. The boys are the epitome of battlers, we highly recommend you follow their social media pages or do one better and join their team!
Men’s Div 2 – Athletic
MANAWATU DIVISION 2
The Massey Athletic team play in Manawatu Div 2 consisting of teams from Palmerston North, Levin and Feilding. The Athletic boys had a stellar 2019 season winning their Div 3 league with only 1 loss the entire season! The 2020 season will bring some blue on blue battles with the Athletic boys moving up to Div 2 with The Rigs – imagine a Massey 1-2 situation come September 2020!
