At Lincoln, we want you to grow into the best you can be, so we design orientation to help you begin your path to success. New students are encouraged take advantage of as many orientation activities as possible, as it’s the best way to settle in to your new life as a Lincoln University student.



MID-YEAR ORIENTATION, FRIDAY 10 JULY – TE KETE IKA FUNCTION ROOMS (BY THE DINING HALL AND MRS O’S)

Meet other students and receive tips on getting started at Lincoln University. We encourage all new students to attend orientation.

11am start, lunch provided.

Topics and timeline:

  • All students please arrive ready to start at 11am
  • A chance to win spot prizes, included great LUSA branded merchandise
  • You’ll find out:
    • Key administration tasks to remember
    • Important tools to get started
    • Who can support your academic success
    • What to expect in your first lecture
    • Wellbeing and support contacts to help you throughout your journey
  • Optional campus tour for all new students begins at 12.30pm
  • FREE lunch at 1pm, a chance to meet others or ask more questions
  • International student compulsory information session begins at 2pm (please arrive at 1.45pm). Meet your international advisors, collect your international study guide and become familiar with regulations that may differ from home.

STUDYING ONLINE IN SEMESTER TWO?

Online orientation details will be provided through your online programme. If you are unsure about this please contact your course advisor.

FIRST DAY OF SEMESTER, MONDAY 13 JULY

Pōwhiri, Te Kete Ika Dining Hall, 8am (plan to arrive at 7.30am)



All new students are invited to attend a formal traditional Māori welcome, pōwhiri. Please arrive at 7.30am for an 8am start. Friendly guidance will be provided before the pōwhiri commences. More information about what to expect is available here.

Finding your first class

If relevant to your programme, you will establish your timetable once you enrol in courses. If getting your timetable sorted seems a bit daunting, we’re experts in this stuff and are very happy to help. Contact us for assistance.

If you still find yourself lost you are welcome to ask others (we’re a friendly bunch at Lincoln), find the beautiful old red brick Ivey building (library) and ask at one of the help desks, or ask at the nearest reception for help. Here is our online campus map.

The Lincoln University Students’ Association Clubs Market is a great way to start the semester and the entire University gets involved.
