Lincoln University English Language

A Lincoln University English Language qualification will prepare you for successful future studies or a professional career. Each year, more than 300 students from all over the world choose to learn English at Lincoln University.



Four–week modules

Teaching and assessments are delivered in four-week modules. This means you can start your English study throughout the year (see below for start dates).

English language requirements for academic study

Lincoln’s English language programme can be used to meet the English language entry requirements for Lincoln’s academic programmes. No additional test, such as IELTS or TOEFL, is needed. Students must study for at least 12 weeks (three modules) and take formal Lincoln University tests in every four-week module.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

This course will provide you with the language and study skills necessary for study at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Students will study various components to prepare for academic study, including:
• Reading academic books and journals
• Writing formal reports and research essays
• Studying academic vocabulary
• Using library resources
• Presenting academic seminars and talks, and taking notes.

Levels (EAP)

Multiple study levels are available from Elementary (IELTS 4.0 equivalent) to Advanced (IELTS 6.5 equivalent).

Graduate Certificate in Academic English (GCAE)

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, students will be eligible to enter postgraduate study at Lincoln University. The GCAE combines English language study with academic preparation for postgraduate study.
