High achieving students from China are encouraged to study for their PhD at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) through a collaborative agreement with China Scholarship Council (CSC).
The programme aims to encourage research co-operation between AUT and Chinese universities. Students who receive a scholarship are provided with a living allowance as prescribed by the Chinese government for the term of the scholarship, return airfare to New Zealand by the most economical route, student visa fees, and the cost of health insurance for international students.
These scholarships are available for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme only and are available for up to four years.

Applying for this scholarship
- Apply for admission to AUT as soon as possible from September 2019. You must allow sufficient time for your application to be assessed by the University before the CSC scholarships open for application from March 2020. Assessment of applications for admission into the PhD programme may take several months.

- Submit a scholarship application to CSC in March/April 2019. The AUT Offer of Place should be provided to the CSC with your application for a scholarship. Please note that CSC will accept conditional offers.
If AUT determines you are a suitable candidate, we will assist with finding a supervisor. You may have already made contact with an AUT academic prepared to be your supervisor, if this is the case then advise the Graduate Research School of this.
Successful recipients of a CSC scholarship will be notified by CSC from May 2020.
