About the bursary

Capitec is one of the top five South African banks that was established in 2001. As means to strengthen its human capital, the bank introduced an annual learner ship programme that is designed to assist students.



The bursary was designed in such a way that it aligns with the Banks products namely Commercial Banking, Investments, Investment Banking, Savings, Debit Cards, Loans, and Credit Cards. As such, bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Accounting and Auditing
  • Finance
  • Commerce or Business Science
  • Business and Management Studies
  • Risk Management
  • Economics
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Information Systems
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Computer Science
  • Marketing
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering

One of the requirements is that students who have completed their studies, should work for Capitec Bank the period of required employment is equal to the same length of funding received. Employment will take place at the Capitec Bank Head Office in Technopark, Stellenbosch (students must be willing to relocate).

During the studies, students are also able to take part in the vacation work programme. The vac work allows students to gain experience.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):



  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric/ National Certificate (Vocational)
  • Studying or plan on studying within one of the aforementioned Undergraduate or Postgraduate fields of study
  • Studying or plan on studying at a recognised tertiary institute in South Africa
  • Clear criminal record
  • Clear credit record
  • Willing to relocate and work within Stellenbosch, Western Cape
  • No working experience is required
  • No knowledge and skills are required
