Bond University Orientation

You may not be on campus yet, but you are now officially part of the Bond community. We can’t wait to bring Orientation to you – wherever you are in the world.

Orientation is a series of events and activities to introduce you to Bond, your academics, classmates and key support staff. On this page, you will also find lots of resources to help you settle in and start the semester strong.

The schedule for May Orientation will be released on this page in April 2021. We’ll be in touch via email to let you know when it is launched.

ATTENDING ON CAMPUS

If you are able to join us on campus, we encourage you to do so and we look forward to welcoming you in May.

Don’t forget that you will need your student ID to access some buildings on campus, borrow library books and more (required for on-campus students only). Once you have completed enrolment you can upload a photo for your student ID card via the CaptureME portal and then collect your ID during Orientation.

If you need any help finding your way around, see out tips below or visit the friendly staff and Student Ambassadors at our Orientation Information Hub located at the Main Library between 8.30am – 4.30pm during Orientation.

If you aren’t able to travel to campus, don’t worry!  You will be able to join most sessions remotely and many will be recorded to be able to view in iLearn at a time that suits you.

HOW TO ACCESS ORIENTATION REMOTELY

Accessing Orientation remotely

Wherever you’re starting the semester from, you will be part of the Bond Orientation experience. While most sessions will take place on campus, if you’re not based on the Gold Coast, you will join Orientation sessions through Bond’s remote learning platform, Collaborate. You will need to activate your IT account to access Collaborate.

All sessions will be held at Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). For our international Bondies, most sessions will be recorded and will be able to be viewed at a later time.

To access Collaborate sessions from overseas or interstate:

1. Log into iLearn (you must activate your IT account first)
2. Click on ‘Communities’ on the left hand side
3. Select ‘212 Orientation’
(or ‘FSD Orientation’ for Faculty of Society & Design students)
4. Select ‘Join Session’ under ‘Blackboard Collaborate’
(Note – session will only be visible at the scheduled time/date – not before)

Experiencing technical problems?

Don’t panic. Call the IT Service Desk on +61 7 5595 4444 Monday-Friday between 8am and 5pm AEST.
