Online programmes for offshore international students
AUT’s mission is to provide great graduates and exceptional learning experiences for all our students. Our focus is on providing the best possible on-campus and off-campus learning for 2020 and beyond.
For international students currently offshore who are unable to study on-campus due to border restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there are some AUT programmes you can study online with us in 2020.
You can progress your qualification now without needing a student visa to study from your home country.

Pathways to degree study for international students
If you are an international student and you don’t meet the requirements for direct entry into an AUT programme, you can study English or take a foundation course here to meet those requirements.

If you do not meet the English language requirements for entry into an AUT programme, you can study English here.
Language courses at AUT International House
AUT International House is an English language school next to the AUT City Campus. It is part of AUT and offers a range of qualifications, including GIE – the AUT university entrance and preparation programme.

You can study:

Foundation programmes
If you don’t have the academic qualifications needed for direct entry into an AUT programme, you can enrol in a foundation programme.
If you successfully complete the foundation programme and the get the required grades, you are guaranteed entry into an appropriate AUT programme.
AUT Certificate in Foundation Studies
This course is delivered by UP International College, which has one of the best NZ records in international education.
- Curriculum includes essential training in English and independent learning skills
- Choose from a range of subjects
- You can use AUT facilities while you are studying at UP.
