The Business School’s Bachelor of Property is a specialist degree that equips you with the skills, mentors and experience for a range of careers in the property sector.
You will gain skills and knowledge in marketing, management, valuation, finance and investment, development and building surveying.
The programme has strong links to the property industry, and you will develop professional connections right from the start. Through the BProp’s successful buddy programme, you will receive mentorship from a senior property professional and have industry networking opportunities throughout the programme.
Programme structure
The BProp is a three-year degree programme. You will need to complete 24 courses (360 points).
In your first year of study you will complete six compulsory core courses in business. These will provide a solid base for your degree, as well as two introductory courses in Property.
The second and third years comprise more specialised property courses, including valuation, finance and investment, economics, law, land use planning and controls, marketing, management, and building construction.
The degree fulfils the academic requirements for membership of professional bodies such as the Valuers Registration Board, Property Institute of New Zealand, Real Estate Institute of New Zealand and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (UK).
Students starting in 2021
If you’re enrolling in the BProp for the first time from 2021, you will complete a cross-disciplinary capstone course. The capstone gives you an opportunity to apply your skills/knowledge in a practical context, which you can share with future employers.

- First, you must meet the University Entrance (UE) standard.
- You must also meet the rank score for this programme.
- You may need to have studied certain subjects or achieved credits in particular subjects.
- Some programmes have additional requirements, such as an interview, portfolio or references.

If your rank score is slightly lower than the guaranteed score, we encourage you to still apply. We will consider your application if places are available. If you don’t meet the requirements, you may be able to apply under our Undergraduate Targeted Admission Schemes.

You must have completed one semester of successful bachelor degree study from a New Zealand tertiary institution, or one year of successful study as part of an acceptable sub-degree qualification from a New Zealand tertiary institution.
Transfer of Credit – You can apply for transfer of credit for tertiary courses completed elsewhere as part of your Application for Admission.
