Auckland University Of Technology Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Conjoint

This conjoint degree contains a strong practical focus, ensuring that you’ll be ready for a career in engineering, business and leadership.

Your BCom starts with a two-course sequence in Business and Enterprise, which introduces the types of challenges that entrepreneurs and managers regularly face. Advanced courses will help to develop your specialist knowledge and skills.

The BE(Hons) provides you with the option to pursue one of nine specialisations available at the country’s leading Engineering faculty*. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the technical, practical, and theoretical knowledge it takes to become an innovator in this exciting industry.

This programme provides you with a combination of business and engineering knowledge, a unique skillset highly desired by employers.

Programme structure

You will need to complete a total of 690 points, with 255 points from Bachelor of Commerce courses, 420 points from Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) courses and a 15-point course from the General Education schedules.

Programme structure differs depending on the Engineering specialisation you choose from Part II onwards. To find out more about how to structure your Engineering study, see conjoint degrees.

All students completing a conjoint are encouraged to contact the designated course advisers in each faculty to discuss their study options in terms of prerequisite requirements and the higher workload of conjoint courses.

You will need to maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.5 across your courses to continue with a conjoint degree.

Undergraduate students completing a BCom/BE(Hons) generally take nine courses per year, one more course than a non-conjoint bachelors programme.

In order to complete your conjoint in five years, you will have to undertake a full-time, heavier workload of 135 points a year.
