The BAdvSci(Hons)/BE(Hons) spans the fundamentals of science research and engineering applications. The programme offers the acumen, skills and disciplinary knowledge that form the foundations of independent research.
There are eleven Science and ten Engineering specialisations to choose from. These allow you to tailor your BAdvSci(Hons)/BE(Hons) studies to suit your specific interests.
You may consider studying complementary disciplines. For example, you could pair Geology or Environmental Change with Civil Engineering to serve the increasing demand for experts who can overcome challenges in our environment.
Your deep understanding of scientific and engineering principles will enable you to take the lead in tackling present and future technological, social and environmental challenges.
Programme structure
You must complete a total of 810 points:
- 375 points from the BAdvSci(Hons)
- 420 points from the BE(Hons)
- 15 points from General Education
- 15 points from courses available for any programme
You can choose one specialisation for the BAdvSci(Hons) component of your conjoint. You can also choose to take one or more modules available in the Bachelor of Science Schedule.
You will be required to choose your Engineering specialisation towards the end of your first year, so that your subsequent years of study will include your specialisation courses and electives. Conjoint planners are available for each Engineering specialisation to help ensure that you are eligible to enrol in all the appropriate courses as you progress through your programme.
Practical work is an essential component of the Engineering degree. You must complete a 40-hour Workshop Practice course in your second year and 800 hours of practical work experience over the course of your degree.
You should prioritise your Engineering course enrolment, but also seek planning advice for your BAdvSci(Hons) degree from the Science Student Centre.
You will probably enrol in nine 15-point courses (135 points) each year if you want to complete in six years. You need to maintain a Grade Point Average of 5.0 each year to continue with your conjoint.
