Accommodation offer for study abroad or exchange students

The UC Accommodation Student Village, managed by Campus Living Villages Pty Limited (CLV), offers accommodation specifically tailored to your needs. If you are planning to study at UC for one semester only, an offer of place is guaranteed providing your application is received by the due dates. This is usually the easiest option as accommodation can be arranged before you arrive.



The self-catered apartments offer you independent living with the bonus of living on-campus in a secure and supportive study environment and are ideal for individual students over 18 years of age.

Individual Study Abroad Costs for 2021 (NZ$)

  • $6,115 for one semester (plus optional bed linen pack of NZ$139 and optional crockery/cutlery pack of $25).
  • $11,430 for the February to November academic year (plus optional bed linen pack of NZ$139 and optional crockery/cutlery pack of $25).

Included in the offer:

  • $5,315 Accommodation Fee for one semester or $10,630 Accommodation Fee for the February to November academic year.
  • $300 Contingency Fee. This will be refunded at the end of your stay, less any deductions for damage, loss, unpaid accommodation fees or fines etc.
  • $300 Administration Fee
  • $200 Residents’ Association Fee
  • A Study Abroad and Exchange Welcome Pack
  • Opportunity to make up for any unused time in your contract at another participating Campus Living Village in Australia, the UK or US as part of Go Explore*.

Payments must be made by semester unless other arrangements are made with the hall.

Apply for the study abroad or exchange accommodation package

If you are coming to UC through a Study Abroad Programme, please check with your Programme Coordinator if you are required to complete an online application form or whether your application is covered by a group contract.

To apply, please complete the online application form for accommodation.  Accommodation is guaranteed for applications received before 1 December for first semester (February start) or by 1 May for second semester (July start).  Applications received after the due dates will depend on availability.  A reference is not required. 

A non-refundable application fee of NZ$100 (including GST) will be payable to UC as part of the application process. 

If you are coming for UC’s Semester 2 2021 and also Semester 1 2022, you can apply for Semester 2, then contact your hall office on arrival to extend your stay for a further semester. A further application is not required.



Semester 1 (February start)

  • Arrival – Monday 25 January 2021 (an earlier arrival date is subject to availability)
  • Departure – no later than Monday 28 June 2021

International Welcome will be held on (date TBC), 9.30am – 3.45pm, in the C1 Lecture Theatre.

Semester 2 (July start) 

  • Arrival – Friday 2 July 2021 (an earlier arrival date is subject to availability)
  • Departure – no later than Friday 3 December 2021

Mid-Year Welcome will be held on (date TBC).

Whole Academic Year (February start)

  • Arrival – Friday 22 January 2021 (an earlier arrival date is subject to availability)
  • Departure – no later than Friday 3 December 2021.

International Welcome will be held on (date TBC), 9.30am – 3.45pm, in the C1 Lecture Theatre.

*Free accommodation with Go Explore

Campus Living Villages offer free accommodation in one of 36 cities around the globe. You can stay for up to 2 weeks in one other Campus Living Village at either the start or end of your stay.

Campus Living Villages Pty Limited is a global company with student villages across Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Get picked up at the airport

If you are arriving in New Zealand for the first time and are intending to study for at least one semester, you are eligible for a free airport pickup service. You will be picked up on arrival at Christchurch International Airport and delivered to your pre-arranged accommodation.

Complete the airport pickup form at less 5 working days before you are due to arrive to request this service.

Check-in 

Ensure your accommodation provider is expecting you.  Each hall of residence will have specific check-in times. Temporary accommodation may be required depending on your flight arrival time.
