Committee Of Bar Examiners (CBE) Of The State Bar Of California
Our online law degree program is registered with the Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE) of the State Bar of California as an unaccredited distance learning law school. ALU’s authority to grant a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, which qualifies graduates to take the California Bar Examination and obtain admission to the practice of law in California, is through the Committee of Bar Examiners.
ALU students must pass the First-Year Law Students’ Examination (FYLSX) at the end of the first year of law school study. Those who are enrolled in our online law degree program must register as students with the State Bar of California. Registration requires the completion of a form directly on the State Bar’s official website, www.calbar.ca.gov, as well as payment of a registration fee. The registration form must be completed accurately under penalty of perjury. Potential students of the online law degree program may contact the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California.
Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE)
The programs, with the exception of the Juris Doctor degree program, offered by Abraham Lincoln University, a private institution, have been licensed by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) by institutional license through accreditation.
The Juris Doctor distance learning degree offered by Abraham Lincoln University is considered exempt by BPPE and is instead under the jurisdiction of the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California (CBE).
