Abraham Lincoln University has been a prominent fixture in Los Angeles since 1996 when ALU’s founder, Hyung J. Park, a practicing attorney and CPA, had the vision to utilize the emerging power of the internet to host a student’s entire curriculum completely online. The flexibility and affordability of such a program would mean that working professionals could become students and keep their jobs while dedicating themselves to higher education. That vision produced ALU’s School of Law.
Today, Abraham Lincoln University is a nationally accredited institution dedicated to providing focused, practical, online courses at all degree levels.
In addition to our law school, ALU’s programs have grown to include diplomas and certificates, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees in business administration, criminal justice, general studies, law, and legal studies. A degree from Abraham Lincoln University can be earned completely online, from anywhere with internet access.
Mr. Park derived much of his inspiration for the university from our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was self-taught in the law and clearly determined to understand and develop this country’s governing body. The famous, heartfelt and empowering words that he delivered during his Gettysburg Address on November 19th, 1863, communicates a kindred vision that Mr. Park hopes to achieve through education today.
Mr. Park’s original vision of harnessing the effectiveness and convenience of distance education and online learning remains focused on adult students who strive to earn a college degree while maintaining their current career. ALU will continue its tradition of pairing academically rigorous courses and programs with continued support at all degree levels in a truly student-centered learning environment.
