Combine scientific skills and knowledge with hands-on clinical nursing experience in order to become a highly skilled and adaptable nurse.
You will complete Science and Social Science courses related to health and integrate them with nursing practice. Clinical learning will take place in many different areas, including surgical, emergency, medical, mental health and primary care services.

While nurses are critical to the success of the healthcare system, nurses with a scientific bent are better equipped to develop their careers in research, health management and teaching.

The BNurs/BSc conjoint programme can be completed in four years (eight semesters) if you are studying full time and complete nine courses each year. You will need to complete a total of 570 points, consisting of:
- 285 points from BNurs courses
- 255 points from BSc courses
- 15 points from General Education
- 15 points from courses available for any programme
Your enrolment for the BSc side of the conjoint will depend on your major(s) of choice. You may choose either a single major or double major. Please note the following majors are not available for conjoint degrees: Anthropological Science, Biomedical Science, Data Science, Food Science and Nutrition, Green Chemical Science, Information and Technology Management, Logic and Computation and Medicinal Chemistry. You would usually enrol in nine 15-point courses (135 points) each year if you want to complete your study in four and a half years. You will need to maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.5 each year to continue with your conjoint.

If you’re joining us from secondary school, here’s what you need to enter the programme.
You are guaranteed entry to this programme if you meet these requirements.
- First, you must meet the University Entrance (UE) standard.
- You must also meet the rank score for this programme.
- You may need to have studied certain subjects or achieved credits in particular subjects.
- Some programmes have additional requirements, such as an interview, portfolio or references.
Guaranteed rank score, subject and other requirements
If your rank score is slightly lower than the guaranteed score, we encourage you to still apply. We will consider your application if places are available. If you don’t meet the requirements, you may be able to apply under our Undergraduate Targeted Admission Schemes.

Further requirements
You must have completed one semester of successful bachelor degree study from a New Zealand tertiary institution, or one year of successful study as part of an acceptable sub-degree qualification from a New Zealand tertiary institution.
