This is a guide to help you get a quick estimate of the fees for your programme for 2020. The figures supplied will also assist you in making fair cost comparisons between programmes and institutions.
The fees calculated below are based on one year of full-time study (120 credits). Where you are enrolled part-time or in a programme of more or fewer credits (for example the Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary) – 165 credits) the actual tuition fee is calculated on the basis of fees for each course.
All University fees are payable immediately upon the University issuing a Confirmation of Enrolment and before the start of study, or earlier if required by the University and specified in an Offer of Place.
Important note: The information on these pages is for estimation purposes only. Actual fees payable will be finalised on Confirmation of Enrolment. Non-tuition fees and other programme related fees may be payable according to your specific programme enrolment circumstances. After your enrolment is confirmed the University will invoice you for the exact fees due. The actual fees you pay are calculated by adding up the tuition fees for each of your approved courses, together with the non-tuition fees (such as admission, examination and enrolment fees) that are relevant to your situation.
Unless otherwise stated, all fees shown on this page are quoted in New Zealand dollars and include Goods and Services Tax. You should also read the University’s Disclaimer Notice before relying on any information on these pages.
There are also compulsory non-tuition fees payable on enrolment in addition to your tuition fees. Charges for incidentals, ie study resources, software, trips and contact workshops may also be applicable to your programme.
Different rates apply for New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, and International students.

Fees information
In New Zealand, you are expected to contribute to the total cost of your study in the form of a ‘tuition fee’. The remainder of the cost of providing your education is funded by government subsidy, research grants, the commercialisation of research and commercial activities.
You will also be expected to pay some administration costs which are called ‘non-tuition fees’.
